Arredare Moderno with Habitante meets Andrea Castrignano, one of the best known and most appreciated designers of recent years

ArredareModerno, in collaboration with Habitante, interviewed the well-known designer Andrea Castrignano.

Who is Andrea Castrignano

Andrea Castrignano explains in this interview how he made passion work. A passion that was born from an early age for the pleasure of beauty. Indeed, it is the mother who, seeing him play with legos, she begins to direct him towards her street. Life then led him to talk about himself on the small screen, an even more fundamental role today, at a time when people are more attentive to the home.

Growing up then, he first dealt with real estate and then gave furnishing suggestions to improve the house. Indeed, the offer is great and consequently there is a lot of confusion. The house must be really designed and it is essential to enter the customer’s mind to create his identity. What he does through his work is to try to understand the needs of the whole family, halfway between a tailor and a psychologist. Who goes to Andrea knows him but he doesn’t know anything about them, so he approaches with a simple question: “What color are you?” This indeed serves to make people feel at ease to identify what they like. What he reiterates is that he is always afraid of spending too much, the important thing is to spend well to create a tailored house.

The importance of made in Italy and the digital evolution

Made in Italy, in the world, is now a brand associated with good taste and quality of life. It is a guarantee because it creates high standards. There are areas such as Brianza or Veneto that truly have realities in this sector that aim for excellence. A made-to-measure house is essential for a quality project and large Italian companies know this. They also know it abroad, where our companies really invoice a lot because there is a great search for quality.

In recent years, there has been the explosion of e-commerce, which leads to a new way of buying. Andrea Castrignano says he is still old school but knows that in design it can be useful because you already know the product and you can speed up the times. In the time spent at home it has become a necessary convenience. The shop allows you to touch and see certain items set and this is very important but times have changed and online sales undoubtedly make life easier.

Indeed, his Cambio casa, cambio vita program has also succumbed to the charm of the web. After ten years of television, the passion for online has arrived, where the language is completely different. Today we have little time and there is no longer time to watch something. You see what you like and when you want. After years, the program has therefore been made available on all platforms. This way people identify themselves better because they have a broader view.

The value of uniqueness

In recent years, uniqueness is in great demand. Customers want the house to represent them. It is necessary to design and create ad hoc and the customer must be involved by saying what he likes. There are no precise schemes but we act only with the desire to help those who want to improve their environment and have a refined home in which to live and receive become an art.

We must also consider that in the last twenty years the way of life has changed a lot. The bathroom has become essential and must be comfortable. It requires little space in the bedroom and more space in the living area. Even the kitchen is better if it is open space because there is no longer an eat-in kitchen and for a matter of conviviality. Moreover, today we are looking for every comfort and for this reason we increasingly rely on home automation to make the home smart from a distance. It is not as expensive or difficult as it used to be and is good for all ages. The goal is to feel comfortable in your own home and a professional like Andrea Castrignano knows how to empathize with the client to achieve what he needs.

Meet Andrea Castrignano at the next fuorisalone scheduled in Milan from 4 to 11 September 2021 where he will present his latest project.
